featured project – tony bill’s books

About ten years ago it came to my knowledge that a movie producer named Tony Bill (among other classic Hollywood films, he was the producer of The Sting) decided to sell his 20th American Literature book collection. By a series of coincidence I was able to see some of the books and I was immediately struck by the diversity and style of the book covers. It was such a treat to see so many of those classic covers together!

Since the collection had to be sold as one piece (the price was about a million dollar if I remember correctly) I was wondering when one would have an opportunity to see all those covers together. So I approached the gallery owner and asked him if it would be possible for me to send an assistant and a scanner to scan all the book covers. And he said yes! So that’s what we did.

First I put a simple web site which you can find here. However it has become easier to build web photo galleries so you can see the covers below. It was a snap to add the files while redesigning this site. Enjoy the covers (there are 250 of them!).
